Management Team

The strategic direction of the company is provided by a management team that has substantial real estate and finance expertise including debt structuring, financing of development projects and assessment of market value of underlying real estate assets. While based in Toronto, the company is able to successfully lend in other Canadian markets as a result of its market knowledge and strategic relationships in Quebec and Western Canada.

Alan Winer, B.Comm., J.D., is the President and co-founder of Harbour Mortgage Corp. He has been involved in all phases of the firm's development since its founding and is responsible for its overall operations including investment decisions and capital commitments. A commercial real estate lawyer, Alan has over 25 years real estate and business experience in financing, acquisitions, dispositions and joint ventures. Alan is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Paul Schachter, B.Eng, MBA, is a co-founder of Harbour Mortgage Corp and is actively involved in strategic decisions including investment decisions. He is also the President of Delart Investments Ltd. in Montreal and has over 25 years of real estate and business experience. Delart and its related companies are active developers and owners of real estate in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, California and Texas.

Bruce Shepherd, B.Math, CA, is the Chief Risk Officer at Harbour and is responsible for the asset management of Harbour's commercial mortgage portfolio including overseeing all due diligence and transaction completion. Bruce has over 25 years experience in the residential and commercial real estate lending industry. He has held senior positions with major American and Canadian financial institutions and has extensive risk management experience.

Howard Cappell, BA (Comm.), CBV, CA is the Chief Financial Officer of Harbour Mortgage Corp., and is responsible for all financial and administrative matters. He has over 25 years of experience in the financial world, including 15 years as a partner in a mid-sized accounting firm where he practiced in the areas of insolvency, business valuations and management consulting.

Mortgage Origination Team

Greg Russell, BSC, MBA, is Vice President of Origination and is primarily responsible for loan origination, mortgage product development and market expansion. Greg has over 22 years of real estate lending experience. He has also held senior lending positions with major banks and other financial institutions.

Sylvia Demirdjian, B.Comm, is Director of Real Estate Lending and is a commercial mortgage originator primarily responsible for loan origination and mortgage product development in the Quebec Market. Sylvia is fluently bilingual (French/English) and has over 20 years of real estate experience. She has held lending positions with 5 major banks and other financial institutions.

Jamie Dysart, BA, is Director of Real Estate Lending and is primarily responsible for commercial mortgage origination and sourcing of equity investment opportunities across Canada. Jamie has been working in commercial real estate lending for over 7 years.
